Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is focused on the technical administration for all network and supporting services. The primary area of responsibilities includes improving and supporting all network design and implementation standards in LAN/WAN and systems management services. Other areas of expertise and experience include VoIP, WiFi, virtual and physical switching environments, security policies and firewall management and escalation, traffic monitoring and troubleshooting, software monitoring continuity. The Network Engineer performs a wide variety of installation, configuration and upgrading of complex data center and property network environments and will be expected to have subject matter expertise in security platforms and VoIP services, firewalls and systems architecture. Tasks will include the integration, diagnostics, testing and repairing of hardware and software related issues on various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, test, implement and integrate various LAN/WAN systems, including: Data Center, Core network firewalls and routers, virtual interfaces, MPLS and SDWAN traffic management and Internet routing services, as well as load balancing platforms
  • Design and (re)architect property network environments to support new security and sustainment models.
  • Coordinate and control services for efficient sustainment activities of the operating environment for all VoIP connectivity services. Maintain regular programs for system patching, upgrades, etc
  • Collaborate in a cross functional role, contributing to the daily operations of infrastructure wide, local and metro area networks, Internet services that affect services
  • Develop, deliver and maintain documentation pertaining to design, administration, and technical management for associated platforms supported
  • Report on operational audits and performance monitoring
  • Maintain updated records of service catalogues, inventory, diagrams, specifications and configuration item data in document repositories and the computer management database.
  • Effectively use ITIL processes for all required changes and requisitions.
  • Effectively use and provide support for ancillary services that are supporting components for the working environment including Network Access Controls, Monitoring, IPAM services, and firewall policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of current hardware, protocols, and standards, including:
    o Cisco Catalyst 9000 Switching Family
    o Cisco ACI
    o Cisco UC and ISR Voice Gateway
    o Palo Alto Network Next Gen Firewalls and Panorama
    o FortiNet Network Access Control (NAC)
    o Aruba Wireless Controllers, Access Points and Mobility Conductor
    o InfoBlox IPAM
    o F5 Big IP Load Balancer
    o MPLS and SDWAN
    o SolarWinds or equivalent management/troubleshooting product
    o TCP/IP, VLANs, VoIP Protocols, NetFlow
    o Affluent abilities with core applications, including MS Office, Google Apps, Visio, MS Project
    o End user and integration experience with network management, monitoring and operations tools
  • A related college diploma or university degree
  • Minimum of 7 years’ of work experience in a similar role
  •  Proven experience with established standards such as BICSI, ITIL, PMI. Certifications an asset
  • Preferred Certifications Include: CCNP and above (or equivalent)
  • Cisco UC and Call-Manager Certification (as asset)
  • Palo Alto Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent
  • Cisco ACI Certificate (an asset)

This is permanent hybrid position located in downtown Toronto with an annual salary of $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 plus bonus and benefits.
